John Muir believed that glaciers were responsible for transforming the Yosemite Valley from a V-shaped canyon to a U-shaped canyon creating giant towering Cliffs such the famous three brothers. The Three Brothers are three rocks pointing sharply towards the sky located east of El Capitan.
Most of the Yosemite visitors miss them as they are not easy to see when driving through the Yosemite Valley. The majority of travelers who visit the Yosemite Valley can’t see the three brothers as they are hidden behind the Giant El Capitan, the largest single and massive piece of granite on earth!
The Three Brothers are located about 800 yards passing El Capitan as you drive east towards the Yosemite Valley floor and YosemiteFalls. It’s very hard to see the Three Brothers. You got to keep scanning through the pine and fir trees to capture The Three Brothers.
Many people also confuse the three brothers with Cathedral rocks that crown Bridalveil Falls. They may look the same .However, The Three Brothers are located on the opposite side of Cathedral Rocks.
The Three Brothers are a granite rock formation made up of EaglePeak (the uppermost sharp rock), the Middle and the Lower Brothers all in one called the Three Brothers. Learnmore about the Yosemite Valley….
